Injecting botox is the world’s most popular aesthetic procedure. This isn’t surprising, because the procedure is simple, safe and almost unpainful. By injecting it we soften or completely eliminate mimic wrinkles that besides giving us an older look, also give us a look of constant concern, tiredness or bad mood.

Although the majority of people knows botox as a wrinkle smoothing substance, we can use it for treatment of various (especially neurological) diseases. Botox (botulinum toxin A) is actually a medicine that can be in first place used for excessive muscle contraction and to diminish gland functioning whe there is excessive sweating and saliva production.

In our practice we use it especially to prevent excessive sweating during the summer months (hyperhidrosis), because botox diminishes impuls transfer in the nerve fibres that innervate the sweat glands and in this way prevents excessive sweating in the places of treatment (armpits, palms, soles…).

In our practice we use botox also for patients that squeeze their masticatory muscles too strongly and grind their teeth (bruxism). If you inject botox into a masticatory muscle, you diminish it’s function and prevent excessive squeezing. Consequently we also avoid the consequences of bruxism, like excessive tooth wear, morning headaches, a painful jaw and insomnia.

We can also correct a smile that shows too much gum with botox. By injecting botox into a certain muscle we prevent excessive squeezing and consequently achieve a drop of the upper lip, so the gum is not exposed anymore.

Mentioned procedure makes also desired beauty effects. It reduces boxy appearance of jaw and produces much nice oval shaped jaw.

What does botox rejuvenation look like?

• Before the procedure.Before you decide for the procedure, we have a talk about the suitability of the procedure, effects that can be achieved and of course about your medical state. If the procedure is suitable for you, we will set the date of the procedure, the places of application and the quantity of botox that will be injected.
• The procedure itself doesn’t take more than 30 minutes. First we clean your skin and apply botox with tiny needles into chosen muscles. In our practice we use botox Vistabel (the producer is Allergan), which is the only substance with the offical right to be used for aesthetic purposes. The procedure is minimally painful, be we also use cold compresses to diminish the pain, anaesthetic cream and if needed other local anaesthesia. The injection mark is barely seen directly after the procedure.
• After the procedure.Because the procedure is minimally invasive, there is no special recovery, you only need to take care not to touch the treated place for two hours after the procedure and you need to keep your head in an upright position fort he next 4 hours. We don’t recommend bending over, lying down and too much physical activity during this time. Avoid massaging the treated area fort he first five days and protect your skin from heat, cold and UV rays.

The effect of botox is seen already after 5 to 10 days and has an effect that lasts 4 to 6 months after the procedure.
